One in Five people has a mental illness. Having a mental illness often carries a stigma. This book seeks to reach beyond stigma and celebrate mental health through photography and poetry. I am uniquely qualified to write this because I have a mental illness— bipolar disorder. The poems show my experiences both as a sufferer of mental illness and one who has overcome. They leave the reader with a message of hope, hope that they can live with mental illness and live well. “Stigma, a virus spreading across America, The antidote: Empathy, compassion. Your voice can spread the cure.”
