Albina: A Windflower Saga Novella (The Windflower Saga) (Volume 19)
2019 FAPA President's Book Awards Winner - Young Adult Fiction and NonFiction (Silver)
Recipient of a Bronze Medal in the 2018 Global eBook Awards in the Fantasy (Other World) Fiction category."Albina" is suitable for both adult and young adult readers alike. It introduces Aleksandra Layland's richly-described other world in its early industrial age. We meet Albina in "Far Haven: A Quest For Certitude. A Fight for Justice." (Part III of the Windflower Saga trilogy). She is the only daughter of Tribune Loris Kennet and Lady Keridwen, the former Duchess of Ansgar. However, we know little about her beyond the details of her birth and that she attends university to study science. This short novella fills in the gap, following her from childhood until she leaves home at sixteen to begin her higher education; and then her adventures, struggles, triumphs, and romances that finally lead to her embarking on her professional goals as well as her young married life.Along the way, Albina's steadfast, intelligent, and sweet nature will help her friends to find their own paths in life, while she experiences a sweet romantic love and comes to grips with her multi-racial, multicultural heritage.Although this expands on a character introduced in the novel Far Haven, it includes an introduction to allow it to stand as a story on its own."Albina" is also the primary novella in the Gold Medal-winning omnibus collection "The Far Haven Treasury."
