Inspired by true events. In the throes of the 1986 explosion in Chernobyl, young Nina is ripped from her hometown and her beloved dog, Sasha, and brought to America. The trauma of that day ripples through her entire life, from shattered relationships to destroyed lives. As a young adult, she is offered a chance to work with an animal rescue organization that travels to Chernobyl, caring for the descendants of the thousands of animals that were left behind that fateful day.
