Qualifications

Time Commitment

There are three judging periods available. You may select to take part in one, two, or all three periods. You will receive books to read and score online throughout the judging period(s) you select.

Books are assigned to judges as soon as they are received by FAPA. We encourage all judges to submit scores as early in the judging period as possible, but no later than the date scores are due in each period.

• Judging Period 1,  Books are assigned October 1-December 1 Scores Due by December 15

• Judging Period 2, Books are assigned December 1-February 28, Scores due by March 7

• Judging Period 3, Books are assigned March 1-April 30, Scores due by May 9

Number of Books *

Please plan to judge at least five (5) books per judging period selected. How many books can we count on you to score during each judging period you selected? 

For example, if you select all three judging periods and select 5 books per period, you will end up judging a total of  up to 15 books by the end.

Categories

There are thirty-six categories of books available to judge. For each category, please indicate your preference: 

Yes—Love this one (I would definitely judge books in this category), 

Maybe—Tolerable (I am willing to judge this category if needed), 

No—Don't even think about it (I do not want to judge books in this category). 

Note that if a book is entered in more than one category, you will only need to read that book one time, but will score the book separately in each category entered.
