Kate Shanahan is the author of Tangled Spirits and The Iron Palace, time-travel historical fantasies based on Japanese history and folklore. Both novels have won awards from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.  
Kate graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science (East Asia Concentration), taught English in Sapporo, Japan, returned to U of M for an MA in Asian Studies (Japan Specialization), and then went to work for Honda's engineering division in Marysville, Ohio.
After all those years in northern latitudes, Kate and her husband moved to Florida's Gulf Coast, where the sunshine makes it difficult to focus on writing. But she’s determined to do it anyway.
