Born in Louisville, Kentucky with no Greek roots, Laura Aristidou Candris is a graduate of Transylvania University—in Lexington, Kentucky, not Romania—where she met Aris, the charming Greek student she married at age 19. He introduced her to a small Greek island with which she fell in love at first sight and visited annually. She now spends a third of her life there. Like many who love writing, she chose law school, earning her degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  She practiced law for 34 years, primarily in Pittsburgh. She was a full equity partner and held leadership roles in two Pittsburgh law firms.  Listed in Best Lawyers in America and other peer-reviewed publications, she also held leadership positions in several nonprofit organizations.

She retired to Naples, Florida, for the months she’s not on the beloved Greek island, where she serves on a charity board, volunteers in the community, participates in four book groups, cooks, and writes. Greek by Osmosis is her first book.
